Wellness Services

Midwest Public Risk has a comprehensive wellness program designed to improve your health and help you experience a better quality of life.

The program includes services and resources designed to keep you and your employees informed and engaged in the health/wellness goals of the MPR pool.

Through a mix of education seminars, campaigns, and group challenges, MPR offers a variety of ways for employees to participate in activities to improve their health.

MPR can also assist you in creating a customized health fair. Additional resources are available to our health benefits members through Cigna and Humana’s professional health coaching programs.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, call the Wellness Coordinator at 816-292-7564.

Help for Veterans

For our Veterans, we want to take a moment to share resources with you that Midwest Public Risk's health benefits provider, Cigna, has devoted to our veterans, their families and loved ones. These services are available to all veterans, regardless of their status as a Cigna customer.

Veterans face a range of challenges, and often struggle with chronic pain, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and other health conditions, as well as the challenges of transitioning back to civilian life. Our nation's veterans are disproportionally impacted by the Opiate Epidemic.

To show appreciation for their sacrifices, and help veterans combat opioid addiction, we are proud to introduce two new resources from Cigna's Behavioral Health team:

1.  Cigna recently announced a free national Veteran Support Line available 24/7/365 days a year. The new support line - 1.855.244.6211 - is for all veterans, their families and caregivers - whether or not the veteran is a Cigna customer. The Veteran Support Line will help veterans with services and resources for pain management substance use counseling and treatment, financial issues, food, clothing, housing, safety, transportation, parenting and child care, aging services, health insurance legal assistance and more.
2.  Cigna is now offering a weekly interactive mindfulness program, exclusively for veterans - Mindfulness for Vets. These sessions, open to all veterans, are designed to help manage stress and pain. Mindfulness is an evidenced-based practice, proven to have a positive impact on depression, stress, anxiety, performance, sleep, addiction, PTSD, and more. The Mindfulness for Vets program will be available every Tuesday at 4:00 PM CST, by calling 1.888.244.6260 and entering passcode: 536435. This mindfulness group is designed exclusively for veterans, to be interactional, instructional, and experimental. At the end of the group session, a participant will have the option to connect with a coach, if they desire.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Midwest Public Risk at 816-292-7500.
