New employees and eligible dependents may enroll in an MPR health plan within 31 days of their eligibility date.

If you have a new dependent as a result of marriage, birth, adoption, or placement for adoption, you may be able to enroll yourself and your dependents, provided that you request enrollment within 31 days after the eligible life event. Newborns must be enrolled within 31 days of birth in order to receive benefits for routine newborn charges. Newborn coverage is not automatic. Review the Employee Benefits

Who is Eligible for Midwest Public Risk health care coverage?

Below is general information regarding eligibility, please contact a member of MPR’s Health Benefits Team for detailed information, or review the plan documents.
  • Your Legal Spouse
  • Your Common-Law Spouse (Missouri does not recognize common law)
  • Your Legal Dependent Child(ren)
    • under age 26: Coverage will automatically terminate at the end of the month in which the child turns age 26. Continuation Coverage Rights
      under COBRA apply at that time.
    • mentally or physically disabled child: Coverage may continue after age 26 if proof of disability has been submitted to MPR within 31 days of the date coverage would otherwise terminate.

During open enrollment employees can:

  • Change from one medical plan to another
  • Enroll in a medical, dental or vision plan, if offered by your employer
  • Add or delete dependent coverage

All benefit elections are effective July 1st. The plan year runs from July 1 through June 30 each year; therefore, all deductibles and expenses start on July 1st.

You are responsible for notifying MPR if your dependents are no longer eligible.
