1. Prepares presentations to the Board of Directors, Advisory Committees, Members and other groups

2. Conveys statistical and trend data, professional standards and expectations, and innovative programs and activities

3. Conducts site surveys for Members to assess the safety and risk status of facilities, policies, procedures, and practices

4. Creates follow-up recommendations to assist Members in addressing potential hazards and to reduce the likelihood of losses

5. Educate high-level elected and appointed officials of the need to appropriately address specific issues and meet certain benchmarks and best-practice standards

6. Serves as staff advisor and consultant for MPR’s advisory committees

7. Assists in setting the agenda, developing and following-up on action plans, coordinates meeting sites and assures adequate communication to committee members

8. Ensures resources are available and properly used to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives

9. Evaluates the risk management efforts and related activities of assigned Members

10. Uses loss data to help inform and educate Members on specific losses and makes recommendations on addressing high-priorityissues

11. Conducts a loss control program compliance summary annually for each qualifying member

12. Conducts incident and injury reviews with Members, including investigations as requested

13. Ensures adequate verbal and written communication with Members during all phases

14. Coordinates risk management information and data between Members and third-party administrators

15. Works as liaison when necessary, advocating for Members within the parameters of established coverage

16. Remains current with all risk management, loss prevention, and loss trends

17. Communicates risk programs which have been identified and directly address losses

18. Assist members in the pool with their employment practice, policies, programs, objectives aimed at meeting short- and long-range organizational needs and opportunities

19. Work with legal counsel to reduce losses and promote modern changes within the entire pool of members

20. Maintains a positive, professional working relationship with MPR staff, Board of Directors, advisory committees, Members, and business partners

21. Travel is required at a minimum of 40% and up to 60% of the expected work week

22. Enforces and maintains compliance with all federal, state and local laws and ordinances

23. Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary

24. Complies with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures

25. Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools and other aids as required or needed

26. Protects and maintains any confidential information you have access to, whether oral, written, or electronic

Position Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Safety Science, Risk Management or a similar safety-related field or other relevant study

2. Three or more years of qualifying experience may be substituted for degree requirement

3. Three years of experience in Safety Science, Risk Management, Public Administration or closely related field

 

Certifications / Licenses:

1. Valid driver’s license

2. Maintain minimum insurance coverage as indicated by state

 

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

1. Skilled in operating computer with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software

2. Efficient in typing, filing and record keeping

3. Ability to receive and provide constructive criticism and engagement

4. Understanding the results of risk management data and trends
